America’s Art Form Concert: “The Harp: Today and Throughout Music History”

This collaboration between the Hot Springs Jazz Society and the Garland County Library has produced some extraordinary talented performances. As a community public service there is no admission.

Alisa Coffey, Principal Harpist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (ASO), will be the guest at the Garland County Library as part of the ongoing music series collaboration with the Hot Springs Jazz Society.

As part of the evening concert, Alisa will provide insight into the workings of the harp, its tuning, its construction, how it is played, and how the harp has been used in the past and its use in music today.

Alisa has been Principal Harpist with the ASO since 2011. She has been featured as soloist with the orchestra several times and will again be featured in the upcoming ASO season. In addition to her work with the ASO, Alisa performs regularly with the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas,  the Baton Rouge Symphony, and the Shreveport Symphony. Alisa is a sought-after teacher, working with students at the Little Rock School of the Arts, Hendrix College, and the University of Arkansas. She is a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Northern Texas.
