Music was superior, venue was excellent, and a good time was had by all……

Schedule of Events

 

The 30th Annual Hot Springs JazzFest schedule will be Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the CENTRAL THEATER, 1008 Central Avenue.   If you haven’t been in the Central Theater since Chris Rix has taken ownership, you have been missing out!   There is  300 seat auditorium with state of the art sound!  A big stage with lots of room  there are three areas (bars) to purchase adult beverages.  And…. The snack menu is Devine (Chris’s creativity at work here.  It is delish)!!!
The auditorium has been renovated  it reflects the glamor and glitz of its former glory.

We are excited about our musical line-up   The Board has been working hard to being the best musicians to this year’s JazzFest.

11 – 4 Jazz Brunch

12 noon        John Jordan with Gary Meggs

1 pm             The Josh Lawrence Trio with Don Colquitt and Russell Roberts

2 pm              The University of Monticello, First Jazz Ensemble

3 pm              Marquis & Mood

ABOUT THE ENTERTAINERS:

12 NOON

JOHN JORDAN has been making music in Hot Aprings for years. He is a local facorite!  He will be joined by legendary saxophonist Gary Meggs, formerly of Monticello.

GARY MEGGS

Gary Meggs has been a performer/educator for 30 years and is currently the saxophone professor, director of bands and jazz band director at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  He is presently performing on a regular basis with the Arkansas Jazz Orchestra in Hot Springs Arkansas, a long with special clinics and performances at schools and venues throughout the south.  Gary is heavily involved in jazz education throughout the southern US.

THE JOSH LAWRENCE TRIO.  This group hails from Texarkana, Texas.  Josh is an amazing keyboarist   Don Colquitt on the bass is  treat to hear   Russell Roberts rounds put the group on drumset   These guys are very popular in Southwest Arkansas   You will love their electric vibes!

2 PM

The UAM 1st Jazz Ensemble   This award winning group just jeeps getting better and better!  Conducted by Jason Smith, these collegiate players will blow you away with their powerful sound

3 PM

St  Jukes and the Immaculates  This group of phenomenal musicians is coming to us from Little Rock, Ark.  this “band of brothers” has united in their mutual musical “calling”   This group of First Class musicians is a 12 man group featuring 6 horns.

They have all got a shtick back story.   This group grooves hard and their schtick is hilarious.

7 PM

THE BIG DAM HORNS

Treat yourself to a very popular group of talented-firey musicians.   They blend rock with jazz and blues to deliver a dynamic show.
This high octane group of 12 features electric hir s and vocals.   They will hve everyone on their feet dancing, boppong and rocking!
